Drivers for Windows XP Released

10 September 2001; New Westminster, BC:

ImageMAKER Development (formerly Spittin' Image Software) is now offering print drivers for the soon-to-be-available Windows XP platform.

Microsoft has released Windows XP to manufacturing and is currently providing the "gold" code to computer manufacturers such as Dell, Compaq, and Hewlett-Packard. Computers with Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional pre-installed will be available to consumers by the end of September. Windows XP will be available in stores as an upgrade or standalone product on October 27th.

Microsoft is not releasing server versions of these two products at this time. The server versions of Windows XP will be called Windows .Net Server and will be released in 2002. Server versions of the ImageMAKER drivers will be available no later than 1 month after Windows .Net Server becomes available

ImageMAKER Development Inc. has been following the development of Windows XP and has been providing pre-release drivers to selected clients. As of today, the Release Candidate 2 printer driver will be generally available on the ImageMAKER web site at http://www.imgmaker.com, and the final version of the driver will be made available by 1 October.

As usual, the demos on our web site are full-featured print drivers containing all the capabilities of our shipping units, but having a "demo stamp" that appears on all generated TIFF documents. Available on the web site will be our full-featured FAX driver, and our color driver capable of generating monochrome and 24-bit color images to TIFF and JPEG. These drivers include all enhancements lately made to our Windows NT4 and Windows 2000 drivers, including Exact Printing, Printer Emulation, Enhanced Dithering, and Large Page Sizes.

Our standalone port redirector monitor will also be available for download from our web site by 15 September 2001. The port redirector is designed to allow you to capture output destined for any type of printer and re-route it to a file for archival purposes, entirely under program control. Redirectors are already available for Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT3.51, Windows NT4, and Windows 2000.
